CONTACT US (815) 663-2351
Our dispatch and records departments are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. During after-hours, Spring Valley Police Department is dispatched by Illinois Valley Regional Dispatch (IVRD). If you need assistance outside of regular business hours, we’ve made it easy for you to connect with us. There is a red phone located on the left side of the lobby in our Police Department, which serves as a direct contact to IVRD. When you pick up this phone, a telecommunicator on the other end will assist you with your concern. They will then dispatch a Spring Valley Police officer to the police department to meet with you. You can rest assured that your non-emergency phone calls will be answered 24 hours a day, either by an employee of the SVPD or IVRD.

PBIS
PBIS is a proactive approach schools employ to promote safety and positive behavior. The focus of P.B.I.S. is prevention as opposed to punishment. Each year, the Spring Valley Police Department makes an annual donation to John F. Kennedy School to use towards purchasing prizes for their P.B.I.S. Winter Giveaway assembly as rewards for students who are eligible through the PBIS program. Officers attend the assembly and hand out the prizes to the students.
VICTIM SERVICES
Spring Valley Police Department responds to all complaints that are received. An informational record will be completed containing information on the incident and involved parties. In some cases, a case report will be completed and a follow-up investigation may take place. If an arrest was not made at the time the incident was reported, the report may be forwarded to the Bureau County State’s Attorney’s Office for review. The Bureau County State’s Attorney’s Office will then determine if a warrant or summons will be issued or if charges will not be filed.
A Spring Valley Police Department Officer will update the complainant on the outcome of the case prior to it being sent for review. From there, monthly case status will be obtained from the State’s Attorney’s Office until a decision regarding prosecution of the case is made.
